Job Description

Janus Soft is looking for a Subject Matter Expert Systems Engineer to drive complex engineering and networking initiatives within critical mission environments. In this position, you will lead high-level technical problem resolution, manage core requirements, and build out resilient infrastructure across enterprise networks, virtual environments, and storage systems.

Mandatory Skills

• Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)

• Hands-on experience identifying security and technical issues and delivering documented solutions

• Technical requirements management background, including investigating and resolving complex system issues

• Multi-platform background across operating systems (Windows, Linux, OSX) and hypervisors (HyperV, ESX, VirtualBox)

• Network engineering experience with Cisco OS (iOS, NexusOS), LAN/WAN deployment, network topology design, backup strategies, and Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture

• Administration experience with Active Directory, SCOM, VMM, and Network Monitoring Appliances

• Storage & Backup expertise involving SAN architecture (design, provisioning, capacity planning, maintenance) alongside enterprise tools like Microsoft DPM and ArcServe Backup Suite

• Experience migrating Hyper-V virtual environments (e.g., Windows 2008 to Windows 2012 R2 clusters)

• Product evaluation skills to assess hardware/software against technical specifications for procurement

• End-to-end management (designing, engineering, maintaining) of COTS/GOTS systems and administrative scripting automation

Desired Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or direct work experience)

• Certifications: VMware Certified, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

• Knowledge of Sponsor-specific IT systems, security frameworks, and forensic applications

• Scripting and Database skills including Shell scripting, SQL Server, and familiarity with Oracle (10g/11g) and MySQL

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows client/server operating systems (Windows 7 through 2016) and System Center

• Hardware experience spanning NetApp and HP Storage, HP Servers, HP Blade Chassis, and customized forensic workstation configuration

• Deep virtualization familiarity with VMware ESX

• Advisory experience delivering recommendations for security standards, operational assurance, architecture reviews, and vendor coordination
